Triphala is the Mixture of traditional herbal supplement dates back thousands of years and has a reference in the traditional Indian texts like the Charak Samhita and Sushrut Samhita.

Triphala churna is one of the ancient and most widely used Ayurvedic medicines. It comes in herbal powder form. Tri means three, Phala means fruit. It is made of three fruits like Amla (Amalaki, Awala), Haritaki (Harda) and Vibhitaki (Behada, Bibhitaki). 

Behada (Terminalia bellirica) Popularly known as Behada The constant use of the plant keeps a person healthy and free from disease Charaka Samhita mentions it as anti-pyretic and mild laxative. It Billerica cleanses and detoxifies diseases of liver and gastrointestinal tract.

Harde (Haritaki, Terminalia chebula) Popularly referred as "Haritaki" in Ayurvedic text books, Haritaki is a legendary drug. It treats simple constipation; by increasing the frequency of stools and evacuating the bowel completely.

Amla (amlakai, Awala, Phyllanthus emblica Linn) Popularly known as Amala, The fruit also known as Indian gooseberry or Amla, to treat many ailments such as common cold and fever, as a diuretic, laxative, liver tonic, refrigerant, stomach ache, restorative, alterative, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory,hair tonic, to prevent peptic Ulcer and dyspepsia, and as a digestive.

It is used as a daily tonic by many, due to its rich anti oxidant activity.

Dose

For Triphala churna dosage Half to 1 teaspoon with honey, ghee or warm water, before food. For Triphala tablet dosage 1 2 tablets once or twice a day,

Usually before food. For Triphala tablets 1 2 capsule once or twice a day, usually before food.

For Taste improvement or to treat oral ulcers, then it please take it in churna (powder) form. For any other purpose, it can be taken in tablet or capsule form.

Side Effects

Burning sensation in the body. (patient was having sensitive stomach).

Triphala capsule/Churna can lead to increased dryness or lack of sleep.

People with diabetes need to consult doctor, if they are taking Triphala Choorna (churna).
